The France national football team is controlled by the French Football Federation (Fédération Française de Football).

France won the European Championship in 1984 and 2000, and the World Cup in 1998. They were also World Cup runners up in 2006 and third in 1958 and 1986. At Euro 2004 they were beaten in the quarter-finals by the eventual winners Greece.

France will be playing in Group C, the group of "death", with 2006 World Cup winners Italy, the Netherlands and Romania.
